September The franchise for Citybus Franchise 1 (Franchise for Hong Kong Island and Cross-Harbour bus network) has been renewed for 10 years by the government on 22 September. The new franchise will take immediate effect on 1 June 2016.
An inauguration ceremony was held for the Main Storage Reservoir Water Treatment Plant III of Macau Water Plant. Its capacity increased from 330,000 m3/day to 390,000 m3/day.
Mr Stanley Hui has been appointed as Executive Director and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Group since 1 September 2015. Patrick Lam, Executive Director of the Group, will be re-designated as Non-executive Director with effect from 1 January 2016 to devote more time to his other commitments.
July The Board of Directors of NWS Holdings has appointed Mr Tsang Yam Pui as Chief Executive Officer with effect from 1 July 2015.
NWFB and Citybus announced the arrival of the first out of five Government-funded electric single deck buses ordered from BYD at its Chai Wan bus depot in July. It will undergo a series of rigorous internal testing to ensure that performance and safety are up to the required standard and is expected to begin operation by the fourth quarter this year.
Hip Hing was awarded a HK$4.33 billion contract by the Architectural Services Department for the design and construction of West Kowloon Government Offices located in Yau Ma Tei. The project was commenced in late July and is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of 2018.
June Chongqing Suyu Business Development Company Limited, a joint venture between NWS Holdings and SUEZ Environnement, entered into agreement with Chongqing Water Assets Management Co., Ltd. on 30 June to jointly invest in Chongqing Derun Environment Co., Ltd. Derun Environment, valued at approximately RMB30 billion in assets and cash, will become a platform to invest in and operate environmental-related businesses in Mainland China, including renewable resource recycling and utilisation, soil remediation, environmental technology development, water and waste treatment and waste-to-energy project investment. Chongqing Water Assets and Chongqing Suyu will own approximately 75% and 25% of the equity interest in Derun Environment.
April The Commencement Building Works Ceremony for Xiqu Centre at the West Kowloon Cultural District organised by Hip Hing was well attended by representatives from Hip Hing, West Kowloon Cultural District Authority and consulting company.
February NWS Holdings acquired 40% equity interest in Goshawk Aviation Limited and certain outstanding loan notes together with accrued and unpaid interest at a total cash consideration of approximately US$223 million. The company is engaged in commercial aircraft leasing business and will be reported under the Ports & Logistics segment of the Infrastructure division.
January NWFF launched a series of celebrations, including a stamp design competition, a lucky draw and a limited edition First Ferry Bears charity sale, to mark its 15th anniversary.
The HKCEC was the centre of the New Year‧New World – Hong Kong Countdown Celebrations where spectators counted down to 2015 with the numerical display on the LED screen at HKCEC. The event was title-sponsored by NWD and was organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board.
