December NWS Holdings published its first standalone Sustainability Report, detailing the progress and performance of the Group’s Hong Kong operations in FY2014.
Sino French Water signed an admission agreement to invest RMB 100 million in Sichuan Jinghao Water Supply and Sewage Equity Investment Center (Limited Partnership). In addition, Sino French Water and Sichuan Water Supply and Drainage Investment Company Limited (“Sichuan Water Supply & Drainage”) established an O&M joint venture to jointly operate and manage water projects invested by the latter. Sichuan Water Supply & Drainage’s investment scope includes urban water supply, municipal and industrial wastewater treatment and sludge treatment in Sichuan Province. The newly established O&M joint venture, Sichuan Sino French Water Environmental Services Company Limited, will be responsible for operating and managing the water projects invested by Sichuan Water Supply & Drainage.
November Vibro (H.K.) was awarded a contract worths HK$530 million of foundation works for Public Rental Housing Development at Choi Yuen Road and Sau Ming Road. The projects are expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2016.
Sky Shilla Duty Free Limited, a joint venture of NWS Holdings, won a five-year concession contract to operate a duty free concession at the Macau International Airport. The company will have the right to sell liquor, tobacco, perfume, cosmetics, watches, jewellery and general merchandise at eight shop locations totaling 1,122 sq m, which is approximately half of the retail space within the restricted area of Macau International Airport.
Hip Hing was awarded a HK$1.2 billion contract to build the Phase 2 Expansion of Cathay Pacific Catering Services Facility and a HK$1.9 billion contract to construct a hotel located at KIL No. 11205 in Kowloon. Both projects are expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2016.
July William Doo Jr, Executive Director of NWS Holdings, has been re-designated as a non executive director of the Group with effect from 1 July due to his decision to devote more time to his other commitments.
May NWS Holdings announced that its joint venture Sino-French Holdings (Hong Kong) Limited had entered into a conditional share purchase agreement with Nam Kwong Development (H.K.) Limited to sell 90% of the issued share capital in Sino-French Energy Development Company Limited (“SFED”) and the shareholder loan owed by SFED, at the aggregate cash consideration of US$612 million (equivalent to HK$4,755.24 million). SFED directly holds approximately 42.2% shareholding in Companhia de Electricidade de Macau – CEM, S.A. (“Macau Power”). NWS Holdings is expected to share a gain of HK$1.5 billion from the disposal of approximately 17% effective interest in Macau Power.
April Hip Hing signed a HK$700 million contract with Hong Kong Shue Yan University for the construction of the superstructure of its Research Complex. The project involves building a high block and a low block, site formation works, fitting out works and landscaping and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2015. Hip Hing also won a HK$1.5 billion contract to build the commercial development at K.I.L. 11111, Hung Luen Road, Hung Hom which is anticipated to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2015.
NWFF received the extension of licences from Transport Department for the operation of ferry services plying between Central and Mui Wo, between North Point and Hung Hom together with North Point and Kowloon City with effective from 1 April. The routes of plying between Central and Cheung Chau, as well as Inter-islands (plying between Peng Chau, Mui Wo, Chi Ma Wan, and Cheung Chau) will take effect from 1 July.
January On 27 January, NWS Holdings announced that the joint venture named Xiamen Container Terminal Group Co., Ltd. was established on 13 December last year with 13.8% interest held by the Group. Its scope of business includes providing port facilities and electricity for vessels and providing cargo logistics services.
Sino French Water through its joint venture company signed a contract with two partners in Mainland China on 16 January to jointly operate the sludge drying project in Yangzhou under a new joint venture named Yangzhou Sino French Environment Company Limited.
The groundbreaking ceremony of the Gleneagles Hong Kong Hospital took place on 10 January. Dr Henry Cheng, Chairman and Executive Director of NWD, Tsang Yam Pui, Patrick Lam and Brian Cheng, Executive Directors of NWS Holdings, representatives from Parkway Pantai Limited and The University of Hong Kong officiated at the ceremony.
