Po Leung Kuk Child Sponsorship Programme Kick-Off Ceremony
NWS Holdings has become one of the first two corporate sponsors
of
Po Leung Kuk's Child Sponsorship Programme, under which the Group will
sponsor 15 Small Group Homes that provide 24-hour residential care for children
who lack family care. Po Leung Kuk is also a partnering organization of NWS
Volunteer Alliance's Life Rejuvenation Scheme in the coming year where
different kinds of activities will be arranged for the children. Mr Tsang Yam
Pui, Executive Director and Chairman of Corporate Social Responsibility
Committee, attended the kick-off ceremony on behalf of the Group. He was
accompanied by about 30 volunteers who together joined a guided tour of Po
Leung Kuk's facilities and services.

Story reading to improve children's language proficiency
To help children improve their ability in reading and
pronunciation, volunteers of NWS Volunteer Alliance participated in the
storytelling programme organized by Storyland of Hans Anderson Club. Individual
volunteers were assigned to read interesting storybooks and played games with
one to two children aged six to 12.

Donation of children's books 
NWS Holdings collected over 600 children's books from its staff,
including storybooks, textbooks and workbooks, for the Chuk Yuen Centre and
Storyland of Hans Anderson Club.

Little Adventurer
About 20 volunteers experienced the fun of storytelling and
games to inspire young children in terms of language skills, cognitive skills
and creativity at Hans Anderson Club's Storyland. Divided into groups to
facilitate exciting games under the setting of an adventurous story, the
volunteers spent a wonderful afternoon with more than 40 children in the
neighbouring Wong Tai Sin district.

English class for kindergarten kids
More than 40 volunteers of NWS Volunteer Alliance participated
in an English
class for 60 kids at Moon Lok Kindergarten, where most students are new
immigrants. Six sessions were conducted between May and July to teach phonics
through games and other interactive activities. The three-month English class
was completed successfully and a graduation ceremony was held after the last
lesson on 17 July. Mr Patrick Lam, Executive Director of NWS Holdings,
presented certificates to the students while receiving a beautiful picture they
created to thank the volunteers.

Charity Family Fun Fair by UNICEF
NWS Holdings sponsored and participated in the Charity Family
Fun Fair organized by UNICEF to raise funds for the Social Development
Programme for Poor Areas in China. The fund will be used for providing
professional training to village teachers in order to raise their education
standard as well as to improve sanitary conditions in homes and hospitals.
