28.11.2005

(28 November 2005, Hong Kong) The corporate volunteer team of NWS Holdings Limited (“NWS Holdings” or the “Group”; Hong Kong stock code: 0659), NWS Volunteer Alliance, celebrated its fourth anniversary on 20 November 2005, and the Top 10 Outstanding Volunteers 2004 awards were presented in order to express the Group’s appreciation towards the contribution of volunteers.

More than 120 volunteers and their family members gathered at Tai Po Kerry Lake Egret Nature Park to celebrate the anniversary, and their devotion and team spirit were shown during the team-building games. Mr Tommy Cheung, Executive Director of NWS Holdings and Mr C F Kwan, General Manager – Corporate Communication of NWS Holdings, presented the Top 10 Outstanding Volunteers 2004 awards to the staff and non-staff members respectively in recognition of their enthusiasm and contribution. Among the awardees, the top three volunteers of the staff category committed over 100 hours in social service over the past year.

Mr Tommy Cheung recognized NWS Volunteer Alliance’s engagement in community services, “We highly appreciate that our colleagues are willing to spend their leisure time on helping the needy. Also, the Group draws on its own resources to practise corporate social responsibility, so as to deploy the caring culture in various levels.” Mr Cheung and his family members are all volunteers, who have participated in the English phonics classes for new arrival children in June 2005.

After the ceremony, volunteers enjoyed the barbecue buffet, water sports on Lake Egret, DIY workshop as well as ethnology museum visit.

To highlight NWS Holdings’ corporate culture, which emphasizes the value of people and commitment to community care, more than 100 staff members were present in the report to showcase the achievements of teamwork, the Group’s efforts in nurturing talent as well as its dedication to corporate volunteering. These were demonstrated in various sections including Strength in Unity, Human Capital and Corporate Citizenship. On the gatefold behind the cover, the Group’s vision, mission and core values were displayed, the Chinese translation of which was the result of a competition among all staff, reflecting NWS Holdings’ support on collective effort and teamwork.

Apart from the continuous devotion of NWS Volunteer Alliance in community service, NWS Holdings has designated 15 January 2006 as NWSH Caring Day in order to celebrate its third anniversary of First Trading Day and promote caring culture, on which Corporate Office and SBUs will capitalize on their respective business strengths to deliver volunteer services in 18 districts across Hong Kong.
