(29 June 2006, Hong Kong) The “Serving Hong Kong, Sharing Prosperity” NWSH Photo Competition organized by NWS Holdings Limited (“NWS Holdings” or the “Group”, Hong Kong stock code: 0659) was successfully completed with nearly 2,000 entries, demonstrating the overwhelming response of the competition. The prize presentation ceremony held at New World Centre on 24 June 2006 was officiated by Mr Tsang Yam Pui, Executive Director of the Group.
Addressing the audience at the ceremony, Mr Tsang said, “The Group organized the ‘Serving Hong Kong, Sharing Prosperity’ NWSH Photo Competition to share our prosperous development with the public and let them know that our businesses are closely tied to their daily life. I am glad that the entries received are very impressive, creative and taken with excellent techniques.”
The competition was divided into Open Group and Student Group. A champion, a first runner-up, a second runner-up and 10 merits were awarded in each group. Most Participative School Awards were also set to encourage students to develop their photo-taking interest. The response was more than encouraging. Participants submitted entries in various themes: some featured the Group’s Facilities Rental, Contracting, and Transport businesses while others featured Property Management, Security and Guarding and other service businesses, revealing the diversified businesses of NWS Holdings.
The judging panel is comprised of Mr Alex Ng, Chief Editor of Photo Magazine; Mr Raymond Woo, Deputy Chief Editor of DC Photo; Mr Schindler Leung, representative of Hong Kong Society of Digital Photography and representatives from NWS Holdings. Entries were judged by its relevancy to theme, creativity and use of colour as well as photographic skills. The outstanding photo-taking techniques and creativity of the entries were highly commended by the judging panel.
The Open Group winner is Ms Suen Oi Ping who took the photo Hong Kong Logistics Frontline. The judging panel commented that the top-down view of the photo captured various facilities of ATL Logistics Centre. The drive lane conveyed the message of continuous flow, which highlighted ATL’s key position in the logistics industry. The photo presented good photo composition, fine exposure and appropriate proportion in lightness. The Student Group winner is Mr Yeung Ting Fung of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology who took the photo China.Hong Kong.HKCEC. The judging panel commented that the bottom-up shot showed the vitality of the building. With symmetrical semicircle, the photo composition was neatly done. The clear sky and waving flags enhanced the vividness of the piece.
