(3 February 2007, Hong Kong) Being a caring corporate citizen, NWS Holdings Limited (“NWS Holdings” or the “Group”, Hong Kong stock code: 0659) celebrated the fourth anniversary of its First Trading Day through delivering various community services on NWSH Caring Day 2007. More than 500 staff members of the Group’s Corporate Office and 17 member companies carried out volunteer services in 18 service units under Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGHs). In addition, the Group announced the launch of NWS Holdings Charities Foundation Limited on the kick-off ceremony.
Mr K L Chan, Chief Executive Officer; Mr Tsang Yam Pui, Mr Andrew Wong, Mr Patrick Lam, Mr Tommy Cheung and Mr William Doo Jr, Executive Directors of NWS Holdings and Mrs Chan Man Yee Wai, Viola, Director of TWGHs officiated at the kick-off ceremony held at New World Centre. “Corporate social responsibility is neither a slogan nor an event that is organized once a year. I hope that corporate social responsibility is a corporate value upheld by all member companies within NWS Holdings, and a value that we will put into real practice in our daily work,” said Mr Tsang Yam Pui, the Chairman of Corporate Social Responsibility Committee of NWS Holdings.
The executive directors of the Group staged a ceremony, which symbolized that the management truly supported NWS Holdings Charities Foundation Limited (Photo 1). Besides, the management of 17 member companies demonstrated their commitments in volunteering (Photo 2 and 3). Before the end of the ceremony, the representatives of NWS Holdings and TWGHs kicked off the Life Rejuvenation Scheme 2007. The corporate volunteer team NWS Volunteer Alliance will start a one-year volunteering programme for the mentally disabled people of TWGHs Fong Shu Chuen Day Activity Centre cum Hostel.
The management and staff of the Corporate Office and member companies set off for their community services with their business strengths and creativity in the wake of kick-off ceremony. The number of beneficiaries was more than 1,300 including the elderly, children and people with disabilities. NWS Holdings’ management and staff members of the Corporate Office organized a Lunar New Year party for the elderly at TWGHs Wong Cho Tong District Elderly Community Centre. The executive directors and volunteers sang New Year oldies with the elderly, presented them gift bags and played games. The party ended with laughter and claps (Photo 4).
