The implementation of paternity leave aims at further improving the staff’s family relations. Starting from 1 September 2008, the Corporate Office of NWS Holdings would implement a 3-day paternity leave policy for its male staff members whose registered spouses have given birth to newborn child(ren). The staff could take the paternity leave within two weeks after birth of the newborn.
Mr Chan Kam Ling, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of NWS Holdings, said, “We view our staff as an important asset to the company. By the same token, we care for their family members. We sincerely provide paternity leave to our male staff so that they can take good care of the newborn child(ren) and their wives and enjoy the happiest moment in life with their family members.”
NWS Holdings understands that being able to strike work-life balance is the key to outstanding performance. In view of this, the Group has adopted five-day working week and established NWS Sports and Recreation Committee to arrange various sports competitions, interest classes, fun day, etc. In the Group’s Corporate Office, a wide array of activities is organized, including luncheon talks and the “Fruit for Care” campaign. NWS Volunteer Alliance, the corporate volunteer team was established to organize voluntary services. Also, Reading Club has been formed to promote reading culture. All these can greatly enhance both staff morale and productivity.
