(6 November 2008, Hong Kong) “NWS Hong Kong Geo Wonders Hike” (新創建香港地貌行), fully supported by NWS Holdings Limited (“NWS Holdings” or the “Group”; Hong Kong stock code: 659), has already rolled out. One of the activities, “Eight Geo Wonders of Hong Kong Voting”, is now open for public to vote for the eight most stunning and spectacular geological scenes in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong is endowed with abundant beautiful natural landforms and rocks despite being a small place. The Hong Kong Government is also considering establishing geological parks to preserve the valuable geological resources. In order to arouse public awareness on geological conservation, NWS Holdings jointly organized the territory-wide event, “NWS Hong Kong Geo Wonders Hike”, with the Association for Geoconservation, Hong Kong and Friends of the Country Parks. The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department is also a keen supporter of the event.
One of the activities, “Eight Geo Wonders of Hong Kong Photo Competition” has completed successfully and received marvellous responses. The winning photos are now exhibited at Aisle K, Air Passenger Terminal I of the Hong Kong International Airport together with the UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) International Photographic Competition on the Environment cum Exhibition until 14 November 2008. The award presentation ceremony was held last Saturday, 1 November 2008.
“Eight Geo Wonders of Hong Kong Voting” is another event that opens to public now. The event aims to remind the public to cherish and care for the geological resources in Hong Kong. The public can simply cast their votes by logging into www.hkrocks.net and pick their favourite “Eight Geo Wonders” from the 20 designated natural landscapes photographs taken in Hong Kong.
The voting will close on next Friday, 14 November 2008 and the eight photographs which receive the largest number of votes will become the “Eight Geo Wonders of Hong Kong”. Winners who could pick the most accurate eight Geo Wonders might have a chance to join the “NWS HK Geo Wonders Hike – Explore Cruise” on the luxury yacht Grand Cruz sponsored by NWS Holdings on 14 December 2008. The public can also cast their votes into ballot boxes placed at the UNEP Photographic Exhibition at the Hong Kong International Airport.
