NWS Holdings joint venture acquires 65% equity in Sichuan Shuangliu Dayi Environmental Technology

25.10.2012

(25 October 2012, Hong Kong) NWS Holdings Limited (“NWS Holdings” or the “Group”; Hong Kong stock code: 659) through its joint venture Sino French Water Development Company Limited (“Sino French Water”) today concluded an agreement with Sichuan Dayi Water Company Limited (“Dayi Water”) to purchase a 65% equity in Shuangliu Dayi Environmental Technology Company Limited (“Shuangliu Dayi”), a subsidiary of Dayi Water. The two companies also signed a strategic partnership agreement to cooperate on Dayi Water’s existing and new projects in Sichuan Province.

According to the 25-year agreement, Sino French Water and Shuangliu Dayi will jointly manage and operate eight rural sewage treatment plants in Shuangliu County. The cooperation also includes the investment, management and operation of the Shuangliu Maojiawan Sewage Treatment Plant under the BOT model. The Treatment Plant will have an ultimate capacity of 250,000 tonnes/day, mainly serving industrial, commercial and urban residential customers in the rapidly developing Tianfu New Area. With an investment of RMB150 million, the first phase of the Treatment Plant will have a combined daily capacity of 39,600 tonnes and will be constructed in two stages. To date, the first stage, with a capacity of 19,800 tonnes/day, has been completed and put into operation.

China’s 12th Five-Year Plan indicates that Tianfu New Area is one of the five key development zones in Southwest China – equal in stature to Liangjiang New Area in Chongqing. Shuangliu, the first and core development region of Tianfu New Area, is the most economically advanced county not only in Sichuan Province but also across Southwest China. In the next five years, Shuangliu aims to develop new energy equipment manufacturing, electronics and information service industries, as well as aviation equipment manufacturing and maintenance services.

NWS Holdings Limited has invested in 27 water treatment and waste treatment projects in Mainland China and Macau through its joint venture company Sino-French Holdings (Hong Kong) Limited. The water projects treat up to a total of 6.98 million cbms of water and waste water as well as 540 tonnes of sludge per day. The Group also invests in a chemical waste incineration plant in Shanghai with annual capacity of 60,000 tonnes and holds a stake in a 61-hectare landfill in Hong Kong and two strategic investments in Chongqing.
