(9 December 2013, Hong Kong) NWS Holdings Limited (“NWS Holdings” or “the Group”; Hong Kong stock code: 659) today held the NWS Awards Presentation Ceremony 2013 to honour staff members and corporate volunteers for their excellent performance and contributions through volunteering work. Scholarships were also handed out at the same event under the Second NWS Scholarships for Employees’ Children Scheme, exemplifying the Group’s family-friendly measures and caring culture.
Approximately 300 participants, including the management, awardees and their families, attended the ceremony at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre to celebrate the special moments together. “Diamond” was used as the theme of the ceremony, demonstrating that the Group cares for its 26,000 employees in Hong Kong, Mainland China and Macau, and that talented people are the jewels in the Group’s crown. Sixteen member companies nominated their employees for the Outstanding Employee Grand Awards this year. Following a series of selection processes and panel interviews, nine winners were eventually selected from three categories – Managerial Staff, General Office Staff and Frontline/Operational Staff.
The Group’s business forges ahead with the support of its people’s talent. In turn it gives back to society through diversified channels, one of which is the NWS Volunteers Alliance (“the Alliance”). Established 12 years ago, the Alliance accumulated over 110,000 service hours among its 2,300 members. In recognition of their great efforts and contributions, the Group presented the Top Service Hours Awards to 20 staff and non-staff volunteers, in addition to individual awards including Best New Volunteer, Best Improvement, Most Talented Volunteer and Outstanding Volunteer Family Award.
Tsang Yam Pui, Executive Director of NWS Holdings, said at the ceremony, “We should thank all the staff and corporate volunteers for their contributions and hard work. The Group is committed to developing a comprehensive human resources strategy to create an attractive and supportive work environment. We also extend our care and appreciation to employees’ children for their outstanding achievements. Together we shall continue to strive for excellence.”
The Second NWS Scholarships for Employees’ Children Scheme was another focus of the ceremony. Fourteen employees’ children, who will pursue their studies in tertiary education institutions this year, received scholarships for outstanding performance in academic and non-academic fields, including guitar, guzheng, dance and painting.
