(22 August 2013, Hong Kong) NWS Holdings Limited (“NWS Holdings” or the “Group”; Hong Kong stock code: 659) through its joint venture Sino French Water Development Company Limited (“Sino French Water”) today signed an agreement with Sichuan Dayi Water Company Limited (“Dayi Water”) to jointly operate the Chongzhou Dayi Wastewater Treatment Plant, which is dedicated to providing wastewater treatment services to over 600,000 inhabitants and industrial and commercial clients in Chongzhou City, Chengdu. Following the signing of the Shuangliu Dayi wastewater agreement last year, this new contract marks a major step in the two parties’ collaboration in the Sichuan water market.
Under the 25-year agreement, Sino French Water will acquire 65% equity of Chongzhou Dayi Water Purification Company Limited (“Chongzhou Dayi”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dayi Water, which will jointly operate the wastewater treatment plant. Total investment in the plant is RMB70 million. The first and second phases of the project have already been commissioned and have a current capacity to treat 40,000 tonnes/day of municipal sewage containing over 10 types of effluents.
Chongzhou City is situated west of Chengdu and within the “30-minute Economic Circle”. It is a manufacturing hub for electronics, furniture and construction materials with a GDP of RMB16.4 billion in 2012.
NWS Holdings has invested in 28 water treatment and waste treatment projects in Mainland China and Macau through its joint venture company Sino-French Holdings (Hong Kong) Limited. The water projects treat up to a total of 7.04 million cbms of water and waste water as well as 540 tonnes of sludge per day.
