(28 February 2014, Hong Kong) NWS Holdings Limited (“NWS Holdings” or the “Group”; Hong Kong stock code: 659) and six member companies were awarded with the “Caring Company” logos by The Hong Kong Council of Social Service (“HKCSS”) for 12 consecutive years in the running. In addition, three member companies operating bus and ferry services received recognitions in the new “List of Barrier-free Companies/Organisations”, reflecting the Group’s concerted and continuous efforts in corporate social responsibility.
New World First Bus Services Limited, Citybus Limited (“NWFB and Citybus”) and New World First Ferry Services Limited have been selected in the “List of Barrier-free Companies/Organisations” to recognise their effort in introducing a wide range of barrier-free measures. These include step entrance and sufficient handrails and priority seats in buses, and Personal Emergency Link and skidproof materials at piers and on ferries.
HKCSS launched the Caring Company Scheme in 2002, aiming to promote corporate social responsibility and social harmony through tripartite partnership in Hong Kong. The number of awarded companies and organisations reached a new height this year with over 2,700 companies garnering the Caring Company logos, and 318 of which received the 10 Years Plus Caring Company or Caring Organisation logos.
