(15 December 2015, Hong Kong) NWS Holdings Limited (“NWS Holdings” or “the Group”; Hong Kong stock code: 659) today garnered multiple awards at the 6 th Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Award Scheme Presentation Ceremony. The Group received the gold award in the volunteer team category for the fifth consecutive year and the silver award in the enterprise category. Hip Hing Construction Company Limited and Vibro (HK) Limited, the Group’s construction arms, received the second silver in the volunteer team category. These awards underline the Group’s continued determination to deliver excellence in corporate citizenship.

The Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Award Scheme is co-organised by the Hong Kong Productivity Council and the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education. It aims to raise public awareness of corporate citizenship, encourage corporations to integrate the concept of good citizenship into business operations, and ultimately promote sustainability in the economy, broader society and the environment.

Tsang Yam Pui, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee of NWS Holdings, said, “The Group and its member companies endeavour to fulfil social responsibilities in different aspects of our daily operations. We also encourage our employees to devote time to volunteering. This rounded approach means that good citizenship runs through the entire organisation, and helps us achieve sustainable development. This year, we are very honoured to receive awards in both the volunteer team and enterprise categories. Going forward, we will continue to work closely with our stakeholders to enhance the impact of our social service.”

Over the years, the Group has formed partnerships with a range of non-profit organisations to launch long-term programmes that address various social needs. These include our partnership with the Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association to establish an elderly day care centre in North District. With a rehabilitation bus service and volunteering outreach support, the programme strengthens senior citizens’ connection with the community. In addition, the Group worked with the Hong Kong Playground Association to launch the “Career GPS Programme”. A series of career training, company visits and job shadowing were organised to enhance the employability of young people who are unemployed or leave school early.

In the financial year of 2015, NWS Holdings and its member companies organised and took part in over 170 community and volunteering events. The NWS Holdings Charities Foundation, established in 2006, has also contributed over HK$18 million to date to support worthy causes. With a clear vision of “We serve our society with what we know, what we have and what our heart has told us”, the corporate’s volunteer team, NWS Volunteer Alliance, has contributed over 135,000 hours of volunteer service since its inception in 2001. The Alliance has benefited underprivileged children, young people, the elderly, minority groups, the mentally disabled, psychiatric rehabilitants and other people in need. NWS Volunteer Alliance has won gold award in the volunteer team category of Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Award Scheme for five consecutive years, since 2011.
