NWS Holdings selected as constituent of Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Benchmark Index for seventh consecutive year

04.09.2017

(4 September 2017, Hong Kong) NWS Holdings Limited (“NWS Holdings” or the “Group”; Hong Kong stock code: 659) has been selected as a constituent of Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Benchmark Index (“HSSUSB”) for the seventh year running since the index was launched in 2011. In addition to maintaining an overall rating score of AA, the Group was again named the highest scoring company in Fair Operating Practices, reflecting high ethical standards and best practices in the prevention of corruption and anti-competitive behavior, as well as protection of intellectual property rights and promoting social responsibility in the value chain.

In the latest evaluation by HSSUSB, a total of 95 listed companies in Hong Kong have been selected as constituents based on a comprehensive performance assessment underpinned by seven core subjects: organizational governance, human rights, labour practices, environment, fair operating practices, consumer issues, and community involvement and development.

As part of its pursuit of excellence, the Group launched a new Sustainability Policy in January 2017 to stipulate its commitments in four core areas: business operations, human capital, community contribution and environmental responsibility. This new policy replaces the Group’s former Corporate Policy on Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) and Environmental Policy. In a related move, the Group’s board-level CSR Committee has been renamed as Sustainability Committee to reflect its responsibility to steer full-spectrum of sustainable development and oversee the implementation of the Sustainability Policy.
