(14 September 2018, Hong Kong) NWS Holdings Limited (“NWS Holdings” or the “Group”; Hong Kong stock code: 659) has been selected as a constituent of Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Benchmark Index (“HSSUSB”) for eight consecutive years since the Index’s inception in 2011, reflecting the Group’s continual outstanding performance in environmental, social and corporate governance.
In the latest evaluation by HSSUSB, the Group maintained a rating of AA score for its overall sustainability performance. A total of 93 listed companies in Hong Kong have been selected as constituents based on a comprehensive evaluation in seven core subjects of organizational governance, human rights, labour practices, environment, fair operating practices, consumer issues, and community involvement and development.
Sustainability is an indispensable part of the corporate culture of NWS Holdings. Following the launch of a new, all-encompassing “Sustainability Policy” in 2017, the Group has further stepped up its sustainability initiatives, including a new plastic-free community awareness programme launched in July this year. As part of our support for education and youth development, the Group’s charity arm donated HK$10 million to fund Hong Kong Shue Yan University’s campus refurbishment programme, which underpins the university’s mission to cultivate future leaders for society by strengthening its facilities for teaching and learning.
Over the years the Group’s sustainability efforts have received widespread recognition locally and regionally. It is named the “Best Companies to Work for in Asia 2018 – Hong Kong Chapter” by HR Asia. It also received the Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards 2018 (social empowerment category) organized by Enterprise Asia, and gold awards in both the enterprise and volunteer team categories at the Eighth Hong Kong Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Awards organised by Hong Kong Productivity Council.
